Students at Lockhart Central School have been involved in an environmental project “FOGO and Beyond.” which has been made possible by a NSW Sustainable Grant. The program gives schools the opportunity to develop innovative hands-on projects that help students learn about environmentally sustainable practices and take real steps to enhance the sustainability of their school environment and into the wider community. A waste audit by students in 3-6 was conducted to measure waste that would be diverted from landfill by using the new bin system. Students enjoyed activities and excursions to develop their understanding of reducing general waste and ultimatley land fill in developing effective waste reduction by disposing of waste in appropriate bins.
Thank you to everyone involved in our Sustainable Grants project, Lockhart Shire Council, Petaurus Education Group, The Wirraminna Environmental Centre and the students and staff at Lockhart Central School. We will continue to help our environment through FOGO and Beyond.
